<sub>Eighteen years ago, a great and terrible monster, the Jūbi, attacked the Shinobi World. No one knew how it got there, or why it attacked, only that it did. Despite their usual constant bicker, the four kingdoms set aside all differences to battle this beast - with the four kages and the rest of the shinobi world working together to defeat the monster. Finally, the conclusion was made that the only way to defeat the beast was to seal it away. But the Jūbi was too powerful to seal away on its own, so nine brave warriors - the Southern Empire's Doijakage, Namikaze Minato, among them - gave their lives to split the Jūbi into nine smaller beasts. The nine new beats were split amongst the four Kingdoms and sealed into strong shinobi, one of them being Namikaze Minato's own newborn son, Naruto.

There can only be nine jinchūriki at one time, because, of course, there are only nine bijū. When a jinchūriki nears death, the tailed beast inside is transferred to another shinobi host as soon as possible to keep the beast from dying with its former host.

Jinchūriki can not be given to canons who didn't have them in the series unless you have a good reason behind them having it. Canons from the series who did have jinchūriki have first pick over the tailed beasts. The jinchūriki of the series also have a choice to whether or not they still want their bijū. The staff would prefer that Naruto still has his, but if not, we can work something out.
