With this ability, Gaara is able to manipulate the same for all purposes. The main purpose is for his ultimate defense, his sand barrier which protects him from harm with its own will. This ability has been the case as far as Gaara can remember hence birth. It seems to react to any aggression or force applied towards Gaara, not even requiring him to turn or bat an eye in order to protect himself from harm. It is most likely because Shukaku itself wants to protect the life of its host in order to live. However, it is possible to manipulate the sand for it to act at greater speeds when Gaara uses his own chakra and body movements. He remains stationary, mostly within battle because of this technique, not requiring him to move when he fights a target. When he does move, it‘s usually to keep within eye sight or towards a target he refuses to let retreat on certain grounds. His primary ability is to capture the opponent and wound them with his technique “Desert Funeral.” (Mostly used to subdue now and not fatal.) Sand Manipulation seems to be the most natural ability of Gaara and Shukaku in the terms of a symbiotic relationship. The sand that is freshly cropped and harvested rests within a Gourd that Gaara places on his back. This sand is known to be the primary defensive sands that react to attacks and deals the very same attacks to his enemies because of its speed and properties. Another source of sand would be that of “Armour of Sand” technique which attaches itself to Gaara’s body. These primary sources of sand make Gaara combat ready on a minor scale, and is usually more than enough. However, if need be, Gaara’s sand can be used to also run itself into the land and terrain that is around him. This involves Gaara having the land become cultivated and broken down to simple elements to create more sand. Even though this sand replenishes his supply and makes the potential attack far greater, it is a bit more slower since its lacks the control and maneuverability which Gaara’s original sand gives him. The sand’s attack and defense capabilities are very effective. The sand is able to be manipulated in sorts of density and concentration. This includes making techniques which involve turning the sand into projectiles like “Sand Shuriken” to strike the opponent, or even make them into rounds of explosive shots with blasts of sand that force the opponent back or send them flying aback. The sand have also been proven to create powerful unbreakable weaponry, hence “Halberd and Shield of Shukaku” which have been proven to be unbreakable and unstoppable in terms of attack and defense even though using a considerable amount of Chakra, these two techniques have been the corner stone of showing why the West Kingdom hails with the most powerful weaponry of the Ninja World. Even though the technique of “Sand Manipulation” sounds like a dream, it truly is not. Even though the technique protects Gaara and gives him the strength to best most targets, it comes with its flaws. Mostly, Sand Manipulation can be done on a minor scale to attack the simplest foe or the largest to shield an entire location. However, the large amount of sand used uses a large amount of Chakra. One example is the armor of sand that is kept in place uses a lot of chakra in order to place it and protect him. Also, the more tiring the task of the sand, the more Chakra is used. One example is to form the large Halberd of Shukaku and large Shield of Shukaku. The most significant cost is that Gaara of the Desert can not go to sleep. Because Shukaku can possibly eat away at Gaara’s psyche, he stays awake constantly unless he uses a technique to feign his sleep to release Shukaku. Gaara can be awake and control the Shukaku in a transformation that slides from his body to the massive body of Shukaku. Gaara’s cool and calm personality can slide to a tenacious and fierce personality, something which he does not want because of his consideration for his Kingdom. It is the Biju that grants Gaara very powerful technique and potential, but in trade runs a risk because of its bloodlust. However, within the use of Shukaku, he is able to use more devastating techniques such as a “Tailed Beast Ball” attack that is mixed with sand and a great amount of his Chakra. The heart of his techniques, Sand Manipulation is the most powerful and essential technique for Gaara that makes him a very difficult opponent in combat. THE LIVING THING IS COMPOSED OF PROTOPLASM ( the mind is sure to wake. ) PERSONALITY: LIKES: Quiet - Everyone likes tranquility every once and a while. For Gaara, it’s a given, but if it’s the chaotic noises of just some people having fun, he’ll let it slide…preferably while he’s making his exit. Foreign Foods - Gaara’s past makes it hard for him to imagine a lot of things outside of the West Kingdom. So when he travels, it is the taste of foreign foods and soil that is the most enlightening to his experiences. Allies and Friendship - Gaara the cold, secluded feeling of being alone. It’s from his friendships and allies that give him the warmth and confidence to battle. Even though the concepts are still new to him, he still tries his best to try to connect with others who are like him and know that dark feeling. Cacti - He has seen Cacti, many of assorted variations. Their nature intrigues them as to him, they are beautiful plants and can survive by withstanding such dry and humid conditions, and still have some bite to them with their prickly appearances. He spends his times sharpening them like flowers to a garden when he has free time. Kingdom - Gaara is protective of not only his friends and allies, but his Kingdom. With his sands being used most of his life to protect himself and anyone who would cause harm, he now uses them to protect those close to him and those who resides within the walls of the West Kingdom. DISLIKES: Chaos - Hectic noise, unnecessary cockiness, and rudely disturbing noises making him get edgy. He may shut someone up or simply ignore them altogether. The latter however is rare and so are the exceptions. Sacrifices - Gaara doesn’t believe in sacrificing anyone or anything for the sake of an idea or another. If he would sacrifice anyone, it would be himself because of how he feels people have pulled him from the cravats of the darkness. Harm to Others - Gaara doesn’t take kind to those who bully or try to destroy the weak just because they can. It’s most likely because he dreadfully reflects his past self on those targets who use this attitude towards others. Darkness - The darkness of being alone, vengeance, and hate. All of them lead into secluded paths of blood shed and endless turmoil; which Gaara does not want to go through those roads because he knows the suffering all too well. Judgment - If any concept bothers Gaara, it‘s the thought of someone trying to judge another as if they were their “God.” Gaara doesn‘t believe that anyone has the right to say if someone deserves the live or dies, even himself. However, this notion goes out the window when his toleration is pushed to the limit. JUTSU Armour of Sand [Suna No Yoroi] Ninjitsu Defensive-Type No Release Probably one of the most notable jutsu since it’s Gaara’s secondary defense. Take the force and blows of attacks that would break through his shield of Sand. The purpose of the secondary defense is to simply protect again blows towards the body during battle. Since this is always active, speed and mobility decreases dramatically and to maintain the sand, large amounts of chakra and stamina are required. Desert Suspension [Sabaku Fuyū] Ninjutsu Supplementary-Type No Release A technique that Gaara uses with his chakra pouring into the sands. By lifting the sand using his Chakra, Gaara is able to support his weight as well as anyone else’s depending on the amount of sand and weight of the individual. This is used in order to suspend people or objects within the air on his sand. Prison Sand Burial [Gokusa Maisō] Ninjutsu Offensive-Type [Short-Mid Range] No Release By sending the sand into the terrain, Gaara is able to loosen the sand around the feet of the target and break away the land below them. This results in the terrain loosening to the point that the user would feel like they are sinking into quicksand. The user, sealed into the quicksand pit, will be immobile and suffocate when captured in the land completely. However, Gaara still can stop the technique midway through to leave them simply immobile. Quicksand Waterfall Flow [Ryūsa Bakuryū] Ninjtusu Offensive [All Ranges] No Release Gaara claps his hands, performs a range of hand seals, and with another clap of his hands, a large ocean sized layer of sand emerges from the land and attempts to crash into the opponent. Even though the opponent can run away from this large layer of sand with good speed, Gaara can easily attack them by manipulating the sand’s form and direction (Usually creating Shukaku-like claws) in order to catch his pray. This causes some damage, but the after technique is what is truly fearsome. Sand Binding Coffin [Sabaku Kyū] Ninjutsu Offensive [Short-Mid Range] No Release Gaara’s signature technique for using his sand. Gaara can imprison his foes using his chakra infused and compact their bodies helplessly into the grains. This can be used to suffocate them or imprison them, but ultimately he follows this up with a technique to instantly kill or destroy limbs. Sand Binding Prison [Sabaku Rō] Ninjutsu Offensive [All Ranges] No Release A technique similar to the Sand Binding Coffin, but unlike it, the space the opponent is imprisoned in is air tight and they are still mobile within. However, it is still dangerous because it uses more compact and hardened sand. Even when airborne, this technique is still possible. Using this technique, Gaara is able to imprison targets and either attack then afterwards or render them helpless and hold them for other purposes. Sand Clone Technique [Suna Bunshin No Jutsu] Ninjutsu Supplementary-Type No Release A technique that creates a clone of the user that is made out of sand. Like most clones, it dissolves when it is struck, but unlike those clones, they aren‘t created on a massive scale too often and aren‘t very mobile. By using his chakra, Gaara can regenerate a sand clone, but it is costly and is best used for tactical strategies. Sand Drizzle [Suna Shigure] Ninjutsu Offensive-Type [All Ranges] No Release Whether using one or many, Gaara clots together a lump in order to fire a shot of a sand projectile that explodes and costs excessive trauma because of the force. This can either be in rounds of many or a single hit in order to strike the foe. It can strike from many ranges, so it can covet virtually all blind spots. Sand Sensing [Suna No Kanchi] Ninjutsu Supplementary-Type No Release Sand Sensing is used in order to track targets who are roaming about a certain area. This is by placing some of Gaara’s chakra enriched sand in certain spots and when disturbed, it can trigger a reaction to Gaara of that said disturbance. It covers very long ranges and gives good intelligence when it comes to location. Sand Waterfall Funeral [Sabaku Sōsō] Ninjutsu Offensive-Type [Short-Mid Range] No Release Gaara after wrapping the foe into a blanket of his sand can implode the sand on the user’s body. The jutsu is excruciating in execution as there is no pain because of the instance when it is used to kill a foe, but it can be controlled and limited to simply crushing the foe’s body in certain places. Sand Shuriken [Suna Shuriken] Ninjutsu Offensive-Type [Short-Mid Range] No Release Gaara does not carry ninja tools often. He doesn’t need them at times seeing he can shape his sand into tool-like objects. In this case, he compacts his sand using his chakra in order to turn them into sharp projectiles. He sends them flying towards the opponent in order to cause sharp cuts and scrapes, something surprising one can do with sand. Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral [Sabaku Taisō] Ninjutsu Offensive-Type [All Ranges] No Release A much larger scale of the “Sand Waterfall Funeral” Gaara is capable of sending a shockwave across a body of sand that covers a certain area. This shockwave causes a designated compression of the sand and instantly crushes anything that is buried amongst the sands. Shield of Sand [Suna No Tate] Ninjutsu [Biju Skill] Defensive-Type [Short Range] No Release The primary defense that protects Gaara. Because of Shukaku taking Gaara as its host body, the Biju uses its will and the sands in order to protect Gaara from harm. This skill doesn’t require any effort on Gaara’s end and constantly acts in order to protect the host. However, its weakness is that the defense can be broken through with the greatest of brute strength or with higher amount of speed. The sand takes basic forms, but overtime, Gaara’s chakra and strength increases to the point that Shukaku’s likeness shows in the sand, even by forming claws in order to strike against targets or to defend against other targets. Sky Sand Protective Wall [Kūsa Bōheki] Ninjutsu Defensive-Type [Mid-Long Range] No Release A technique demonstrating Gaara’s creation of weaponry using the sand, but in this case, the style of a shield. By raising a large amount of sand from the ground with purified minerals and material, Gaara is able to compact it together in order to create a hardened shield composed of those strong minerals and his chakra. This shield is strong enough to guard against the mightiest of forces that oppose it. Sphere of Sand [Suna No Tama] Ninjutsu Balanced-Type [Short-Mid Range] No Release Concealing himself in a Sphere of Sand, Gaara protects himself from harm while being able to attack an enemy who draws close or from a far range. This technique simply is used to protect Gaara from bombarding offensive attacks from all sides while he mounts his own offensive or buys time. Third Eye [Daisan No Me] Ninjutsu Supplementary-Type No Release Using Chakra linking to the optic nerve and to an object, in this case an eye composed of sand, Gaara is able to see through this object. This makes him able to act in reconnaissance type fields or use the technique to see beyond places he normally would not be able to, such as that beyond the barricades of his walls of sand. Ultimately Hard Absolute Attack: Spear of Shukaku [Saikō Zettai Kōgeki: Shukaku no Hoko] Ninjutsu Offensive [Short-Mid Range] No Release Using his sands, Gaara cultivates from the lands the hardest minerals and make up from within the Earth. He then draws its form from the ground revealing a giant spear that is made in the likeness of the Biju, Shukaku‘s, claws. Using this spear, Gaara is able to throw it and pierce the strongest guards, defenses, and obstacles in order to strike the target. The Spear has not met a defensive that could stop it. Ultimate Hard Absolute Defense: Shield of Shukaku [Saikō Zettai Bōgyo: Shukaku no Tate] Ninjutsu Defensive [Short-Mid Range] No Release By using the sands, Gaara is able to cultivate from the land the hardest minerals and draw them up before him in order to create a giant round body in the likeness of Shukaku that is actually an oddly proportionate shield. Using this shield, Gaara is able to put up an outstanding defense that can not be broken and has been proven in that regard seeing it has yet to meet an offensive to break through it. Wind Release: Great Breakthrough [Fūton: Daitoppa] Ninjutsu Offensive [Short-Mid Range] Wind Release Gaara, making hand seals and taking in a large amount of breath, fires out a blast of wind forth capable of blowing the foe back enabling him to cause some damage. The force is great enough to knock down a tree! Occasionally it can be combined with fire-jutus, but in Gaara’s case, can combine it with Sand Drizzle in order to pelt the opponent continuously while they are carried by the winds. Wind Release: Infinite Sand Cloud Great Breathrough [Fūton: Mugen Sajin Daitoppa] Ninjutsu [Biju Skill] Balanced-Type [All Ranges] Wind Release Gaara, instead of combining himself with his Biju self, summons a sand-likeness of Shukaku using a great amount of his chakra. By doing this, Gaara is able to let the sand-likeness of Shukaku perform an even greater variation of the “Wind Release: Great Breakthrough” imbued with sand and chakra which is enough to topple a division of a forest instead of a single tree.
